Northlight Psychology

Helping schools implement change that lasts.

Systems-focused consultancy for improving school-wide inclusion, even when time and resources are pressured.

Change in schools can be hard. Not because people don’t care, but because schools are complex and time is limited.

School leaders are under pressure to show progress, but face real challenges:

  • Time is limited and competing priorities pull staff and teams in every direction.
  • Change fatigue among staff and leaders can mean valuable time and money go to waste.
  • There’s often no clear system for evaluating progress, or knowing when to stop.

How it works

Phase 1: Define the Direction:
Clarify what matters and where to focus your efforts.

We can work with you to:

  • Understand your school system, its context, and how this affects inclusion in your school.
  • Define clear, meaningful goals.
  • Identify what needs to change and why.

Phase 2: Shape the Work:
Target the systems and practices that drive change.

We can work with you to:

  • Pinpoint the support and development required for staff.
  • Select practical, evidence-informed strategies that work in your context.
  • Build a phased, realistic, and sustainable action and evaluation plan.

Phase 3: Embed and Adapt
Sustain progress on your school’s or trust’s journey to become more inclusive to benefit all pupils.

Through ongoing strategic consultation, we can work with you to:

  • Review and evaluate progress.
  • Tackle barriers as they arise.
  • Build internal capacity and momentum to carry the work forward.

Each phase is flexible to respond to the dynamic nature of system change.

As each school and trust context is different, we construct a bespoke plan for each client we support. These plans are tiered with different levels of support, each with a different cost to reflect these differences.

We are currently inviting schools and trusts to partner with us in developing this approach further. As an early partner, you will benefit from reduced pilot rates, additional support, and the chance to shape a service designed around the real challenges schools face.

Frequently Asked Questions

This service is designed for senior leaders and trust leaders who are planning new inclusion initiatives or want to strengthen existing provision. It’s particularly suited to schools and trusts who are ready to take a longer term strategic approach, moving beyond quick fixes towards lasting, evidence-informed change.

Unlike traditional training days or one-off consultancy, our approach is systemic and sustained. We work with you over time, helping you define priorities, shape practical action plans, and embed new practices across your school. This means change doesn’t just start, but lasts.

Schools we work with can expect:

  • A clearer sense of direction and priorities.
  • Practical, realistic action plans.
  • Improved staff confidence in inclusive practice.
  • A stronger culture of evaluation and reflection.
  • Lasting improvements that benefit pupils, staff, and families.

We know time is pressured in schools. Our consultancy service is designed to work with your existing meetings, structures and processes as much as possible so it doesn’t create extra layers of work. We want to ensure our support helps staff focus their efforts more effectively, reducing wasted time and change fatigue.

The standard daily rate is £650, with an introductory pilot rate of £550 per day (over 15% discount) for schools and trusts joining us in the early stages of this work. Costs are transparent and reflect both direct consultancy time and the preparation and follow-up required.

The overall cost will vary depending on the arrangement agreed with each school/trust as this will affect the amount of time required.

Every school and trust is different, which means we tailor a plan to your context. This could vary from a short series of days over one term to work across an academic year. We will always agree on the level of involvement and cost in advance.

Our consultancy service is grounded in behavioural science, implementation research and educational psychology. This means it’s based on evidence about what makes change sustainable in complex organisations like schools. As much as possible, we want to help schools and trusts refine and embed the work that is already happening.

Early partners receive the discounted pilot rate, priority access to consultancy days, and additional support as the model develops. You’ll also help shape an innovative approach to inclusion-focused consultancy that is designed around the real challenges schools and trusts face.
