I’m Dr David Preston, Director of Northlight Psychology and a registered Educational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

With over 20 years’ experience across teaching, pastoral leadership, safeguarding, SEND consultancy and applied psychology, as well as being a parent, I understand the real pressures faced by schools, families and professionals.

Northlight Psychology offers flexible, evidence-informed services ranging from individual casework to school-wide development around inclusion. Grounded in a people-first and evidence-based approach, we prioritise the well-being, voice and dignity of children, families and staff in all that we do.

Northlight Psychology works in partnership with state and independent schools and Multi-Academy Trusts to deliver clear, practical outcomes, through consultation, assessment, supervision or strategic input. Our unique integration of complex systems and behavioural insights research helps schools embed inclusive practices and staff development strategies that are both effective and sustainable.
